Do you really get work done when you e-mail someone…or is just information being exchanged?
There is a difference between Working and Producing. Preparing and sending out twenty-five sales proposals is Working. Closing twenty-five sales (or just even one) is Producing.
Working is the act of doing; the motion involved; the effort.
Producing is the accomplishing of a result; the sale that was closed. The product that was made.
Are you working hard but not getting the results you want? When you go through your e-mail, you are definitely Working, but are you really Producing—or are you just moving information back and forth?
It used to be: Work hard.
Then it was: Work smart.
Now it is: Produce a result.
