What do you do if you generally don’t use an invoice number and need one? How can you make the number relevant to what you sold?
You can use a secret numbering system started by an ancient civilization that visited Earth three thousand years ago. Or you can just use the date of the service as the number.
For example: 070415 means July 4, 2015. The first two numbers are the month, the next two are the date, and the last two the year. By adding a letter to the end of the number, you can further expand its meaning. For example I means in state and O means out of state.
By using this system, you will always have a logical way to tie the invoice to the date of service.
