When you first meet someone, how do you initially size them up? Isn’t it visually?
The same principle is true in your office. The first way you organize anything is visually.
Colors are the easiest way to remember your Categories (a grouping of similar or like things). When I see the color blue, I think of a Category called “Forms,” since filling out forms always depresses me and makes me blue. Green for “Financial” and money. Orange for “PR,” since Anita Bryant was the PR person for Florida orange juice years ago. You don’t have to use these—you get to make your own weird associations.
Let the color “tip you off” as to what the Category is.
Perhaps another Category name comes to mind when you think of the color green. Ho. Ho. Ho.
